Glenn L. Dawson

Glenn Lee Dawson, 89, of McConnelsville, passed away Tues. April 16, 2024 at his residence. He was born on Goshen Run near Chesterhill OH on Feb 9, 1935 to Estel Dawson and Fay Benjamin Dawson. Glenn graduated from M-M High School in 1953. He was a 38 year employee of Central Ohio Coal Company as a Heavy Equipment Operator before retiring in 1997. Glenn loved flying and held several flight ratings as commercial pilot, flight pilot, flight instructor, instrument flight instructor, multi-engine rating as well as multi-engine instructor. In his flying experiences he accumulated approximately 2,700 hours of flight time. He was a former dispatcher and honorary member of the M&M Fire Department. He was also a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, and a former member of Rube Band. In 1960, he met and married his darling wife Sylvia Powell Dawson. They had two daughters, Julie Lee (Kevin) Edmonson and Lori Lynn (Mike) McCoy. He is survived by 5 grandchildren, Erin Morrison of Zanesville, Kelly Edmonson of East Fultonham, Michael (Trisha) McCoy of Stockport, Alisha McCoy of Stockport, Ashley (Copen) King of Oklahoma, son-in-law, Kevin Edmonson of Zanesville, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife and daughters. Graveside service will be Sat. April 20, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. at Pennsville Cemetery. Friends may call on the family, Fri. April 19, 2024 from 5:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at Matheney Funeral Home in McConnelsville. A memorial service will take place Sun. April 21, 2024 at 3:00 P.M. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
