Ada C. Blackburn 87, of Malta, passed away at 5:35 p.m. Thursday Dec. 26, 2013, at the Morrison House in Zanesville.

She was born March 28, 1926, in Manchester Township in Morgan County, the daughter of the late James N. Nelson and Maggie Gorrell Nelson.

Mrs. Blackburn worked at Muskingum Valley Grocery Co. She married Robert L. Blackburn on October 12, 1947, and he died June 22, 1999. She was a member of the Jehovah's Witness McConnelsville Congregation. She enjoyed playing the guitar and violin. She played for square dances for many years and also enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends.

She is survived by a daughter, Linda Blackburn of McConnelsville; a son, Carl D. (Pamela) Blackburn of Malta; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; a sister, Mary Eleanor Blackburn of Claysville; and one brother, John Nelson of McConnelsville.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Roy L. Blackburn and James R. Blackburn; one sister, Marjorie Walder; and one brother, Ramon Nelson.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 29, at the Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30, at the funeral home.

She will be laid to rest in Malta Cemetery beside her husband.
