CHESAPEAKE - Albert M. Smith, 57, of Chesapeake, formerly of Bartlett, died at 11:30 a.m. Sunday (Aug. 29, 2010) at St Mary's Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia. He was born on Jan. 17, 1953, to the late Cleo and Eva Thornton Smith, and was a member of the Wesley Township Volunteer Fire Department for over 30 years. He is survived by four brothers, Cleon Smith of Layman, Cecil (Ramona) Smith of Athens, Webster Smith of Bartlett and Elbert (Jamie) Smith of Chesapeake; two sisters, Elva Carter of Abingdon, Va., and Goldie (George) Young of Bellevue, Fla.; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Leona McCutcheon. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday (Sept. 2, 2010) at Stone-Matheney Funeral Home in Chesterhill with the Rev. James Corbitt officiating. Burial will follow in Bartlett Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday (Sept. 1, 2010) from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the funeral home for funeral expenses.
