Alfred E. Croston, 73 of Chesterhill, died on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at 12:13 A.M. at the Marietta Memorial Hospital in Marietta. He was born on October 29, 1938 in Chesterhill to the late Willis and Madeliene Thompson Croston. He worked as a printer at the Jeffery's Mining and Manufacturing Company in Columbus and then retired from Malta Manufacturing in Malta. He also served in the U.S. Air Force. He is survived by one stepson, Michael Grimes of Columbus, three stepdaughters, Ordell "Jean" Holcomb of Point Pleasant, W.Va., Florence Pinyon of Kingston, Tenn., and Elaine Nutt of London, Oh., one brother, Larry Croston of Chesterhill, two sisters, Gloria Mayle of Chesterhill and Mary Croston of Olathe, Kansas, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Delores Croston, one stepson, Dwaine Grimes and an infant sister, Shirley. Services will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at 12:00 P.M. at the Stone-Matheney Funeral Home in Chesterhill with burial following in the Chesterhill Cemetery. Friends may call on the family from 10-12:00 P.M. on the day of the service.
