Alisa Copeland, 52, of McConnelsville, Ohio, passed away on November 7, 2024.  She was born on January 16, 1972 with a deeply caring soul that she shared with the world, a profound love of animals, and a steadfast loyalty to her friends and family. She is survived by her husband and love of her life Rod Copeland, Rod's family, mother Diane Goldring, sister Jodi Washburn, beloved nieces Abigail Washburn and Melissa Davis, dogs Bailey and Loo, horse Chester, and cat PJ.  There was not a more devoted teacher on earth. She worked tirelessly, from early in the morning to late at night, to ensure her students had new and creative lesson plans daily. She was dedicated to her first graders at Maysville Elementary for nearly 25 years. Teaching reading was her passion and she had the grit and drive to pass that passion along.  In her limited free time, she cherished time with Rod and loved crafting. She upcycled, chiqued the shabby, and brought the beauty out of the imperfect.  Alisa was preceded in death by her father Yair Apisdorf, grandparents Les and Leona, horse Spanky, dog Lexi, and a gaggle of other four-legged babies that she loved.  She will be laid to rest with no formal ceremony at this time, details to come in the near future.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to the animal rescue shelter/charity of your choice.  Matheney Funeral Home in McConnelsville is handling the arrangements.  To send a note of condolence to the family go to www.matheneyfh.com.
