Arita Rae Hill Ellis, 79, of Chesterhill, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 4, 2016, surrounded by her family. She was born on Nov. 13, 1936 in Stewart, Ohio to Wilfred O. and Bessie Justin Hill. She was employed for many years at the First National Bank of Chesterhill, where she served as the Executive Vice President and a Director of the Board. Arita Rae retired from Peoples Bank after serving as a Branch Manager in Athens and Belpre. She was a member of the Chesterhill United Methodist Church, La Cherie Petite OCCL, Valley Chapter 19 OES of McConnelsville, Chesterhill Euchre Club, Morgan County Athletic Boosters, and the Fort Frye Cadets Athletic Boosters. She was famous for her cakes that she donated to local organizations. Arita Rae also enjoyed many years as a Longaberger Consultant. She is survived by her mother, Bessie Justin Hill of Malta, her husband of 61 years, Meredith "Mert" Ellis of Chesterhill, 2 sons, Alan (Kristen) Ellis of Beverly, Aaron (Belinda) Ellis of McConnelsville, 2 daughters, Teresa (Brett) Brown of McConnelsville and Trina (Randy) Richards of Marietta, 1 sister, Ajuana Faye Worthington of Zanesville, 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father. Visitation will be held on Weds. Sept. 7, 2016 from 4-8:30 P.M. at the Stone-Matheney Funeral Home in Chesterhill. Funeral services will be held following the visitation. In lieu of flowers, family ask that donations may be made to the Chesterhill Volunteer Fire Dept.
