Artie P. Powell, 76, of McConnelsville went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, Feb. 16, 2018 at the Genesis Morrison House in Zanesville. He was born on June 9, 1941 in Zanesville to the late Paul F. and Bonnie J. Koon Powell. He worked for the Central Ohio Coal Company where he worked in many aspects of the mine. He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church and a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post #24 in McConnelsville. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Susie M. Thomas Powell of the home, 2 sons, Artie (Flo) Powell Jr. of Malta and Tim (Heather) Powell of Newark, a sister, Cherie Jean Godwin of Marietta, 7 grandchildren, Jonny, Laci, Skyler, Sydney, Mia, Isabella and Abigail and 2 great grandchildren, Zane and Greyson. His parents precede him in death. The family will receive friends on Sat. Feb. 24, 2018 from 2-4 P.M. with a funeral service following at the Matheney Funeral Home in McConnelsville.
