Beatrice Juanita Hook, age 90 of Stockport, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at the Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born on Feb. 8, 1927 in Stockport, to the late Levi and Junia Gheen Scott. Juanita was a beautiful and talented lady who enjoyed life and brought smiles to all who knew her. "Skeet", as her friends called her, was a cheerleader in her youth, and in life. She was always a role model and caregiver, for those of later generations, as well as an extraordinary homemaker that found great joy in the pleasures of her family. Like many of her great generation she learned not to just overcame, but to be daring, and at age 43 she became one of the few female private pilots in the nation to possess an instrument rating, all the while playing the piano, singing, dancing, and chopping wood with the best of them. She will be very much missed. Survived by her son, Larry (Diane) Hook of Charlotte, NC, her brother, Ted (Jean) Scott of Zanesville, three sisters, Thelma Creighton of Stockport, Pauline Moye of Kountze TX and Connie (John)Wise of Zanesville, as well as four grandchildren and two great granddaughters. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Byron J. Hook, son Michael J. Hook, and brothers Kenneth, and Dwight Scott. A graveside service will be held on Sat. March 18, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the Oak Grove Cemetery on Putnam Ave. in Marietta. A memorial service for Juanita will be held on Sunday, March 19, 2017 from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. at her place of worship, the Beverly United Methodist Church.
