Bernice W. Johnson, 95, of McConnelsville passed away at 9:00 p.m. Wednesday July 3,2013 at the Highland Oaks Health Center in McConnelsville.

She was born August 23,1917 in Penn Township, Morgan County to the late William Newson and Mabel Spencer Newsom.

Bernice had worked as a bar maid at the Eagles Club in McConnelsville and the former Colonial Inn. She was a charter member of the Eagles Club and was a member of the Eagles Auxillary. She was also a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in McConnelsville.

She is survived by two sons Jerry (Margaret) Johnson of McConnelsville and Larry (Deborah) Johnson of Stockport; several grandchildren and great- grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Chester F. Johnson; a daughter Janet Ponchak; a sister Hazel Newsom; and three brothers Bernard, Wilbur, and Floyd Newsom.

Calling hours will be Friday July 5, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville where funeral services will be held Saturday July 6, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Galen Finley officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in McConnelsville Cemetery. An Eagles service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
