Bessie E. Francis, 90 of Chesterhill, passed away on Tues, May 7, 2024 at the Hickory Creek Nursing Home in the Plains.  She was born on Feb. 22, 1934 in Cutler, Ohio to the late Harry and Marie Harris Lucas.  She worked cleaning houses and loved raising her children.  She attended the Marietta Baptist Church.  She is survived by a brother, Bill (Melinda) Lucas of Chesterhill, 4 sisters, Joann Mayle of Canton, Viola Ruth Flowers of Stewart, Verna Mae "Belle" Thompson of Chesterhill and Mary Evelyn "Ann" Thompson of Plantsville, 6 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents, 3 daughters, Rita Goins, Lorena Lucas and Rose Dalton, 3 brothers, Charlie Lucas, Harry "Joe" Lucas, and James "Archie" Lucas, 5 sisters, Jenny McCune, Maxine Dansby, Martha Lucas, Blanche Hill and Sharon "Minnie" Alexander, and grandson, Allen Goins.  Stone-Matheney Funeral Home in Chesterhill is handling a caring cremation for the family.  A celebration of life service will be announced at a later date.
