Bessie J. Hill, 101, of Malta, formerly of Chesterhill, passed away at her residence on Wednesday, May 10, 2017. She was born on Aug. 1, 1915 in Caywood, Ohio to the late Ralph B. and Metta Rae Starkey Justin. She was a homemaker and loved working on the family farm. She graduated from Rome Canaan High School in Stewart. She was a member of the Chesterhill United Methodist Church, Morgan County Farm Bureau, OES, 50 year Girl Scout Leader, Head of the Morgan County Cancer Society and enjoyed being a member of the Morgan County Golf League at the Morgan County Fair Grounds. She is survived by a daughter, Ajuana Faye Worthington of Zanesville, 7 grandchildren, Patti (Jamie) White of Malta, Jim Worthington of Chesterhill, Kerri (Mike) Beam of McConnelsville, Alan (Kris) Ellis of Beverly, Aaron (Belinda) Ellis of McConnelsville, Teresa (Brett) Brown of McConnelsville and Trina (Randy) Richards of Marietta, son-in-law, Meredith Ellis of Chesterhill, 22 great grandchildren and 21 great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Wilfred O. Hill, daughter, Arita Rae Ellis, son-in-law, Fred Worthington, a brother, Alfred (Nelma) Justin and two sisters, Ruby Nuzum and Mable Janie Ogg. Services will be held on Sat. May 13, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the Stone-Matheney Funeral Home in Chesterhill with Pastor Phil Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in the Chesterhill Cemetery. Friends may call on the family on Friday, May 12, 2017 from 5-8 P.M. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Chesterhill United Methodist Church or the Chesterhill Fire Dept.
