William "Bill" Matheney, 85 of Malta, left this life in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family on Sat, Dec. 4, 2021.  He was born on Oct. 16, 1936 in Deavertown, Ohio to the late Fredrick and Freda Latta Matheney.  He retired from the Central Ohio Coal Company where he worked as a welder on the Big Muskie.  He was a member of Valley #145 Masonic Lodge in Malta and the Malta Coonhunters Club.  He loved coon hunting with his brother Jack and all his family over the years.  He also enjoyed sitting on the porch reminiscing and spending time with his family and friends.  He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jerry Lou Clemens Matheney of the home, a son, John (Teresa) Matheney of McConnelsville, 2 daughters, Jill (Mike) Coleman of Malta and Cindy Barringer of Malta, 2 brothers, Jack Matheney of McConnelsville and Richard Riffle of Michigan, 3 sisters, Susie Thompson of Columbus, Kathy Glaser of Columbus and Nora Sanford of Toledo, 8 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Melvin and Jerry Riffle.  A loving and caring cremation is taking place at Bill's wishes.  To send a note of condolence to the family go to www.matheneyfh.com.
