Bruce A.
Miller
Jan 25, 1950 — Jul 4, 2026
Bruce Allen Miller, 76, of Stockport, Ohio, passed away on July 4, 2026. He was born January 25, 1950, in Massillon, Ohio, to Richard and Marcella (Wilcox) Miller.
Bruce grew up in Massillon, where he was a lifelong, passionate fan of the Massillon Tigers. He graduated from Washington High School in 1968, serving as student council president with nicknames such as “Bam Bam” and “Malibu Melvin” before heading to The Ohio State University where he earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering. In Columbus he became a Buckeye fan and met the love of his life, Kay (Colerick) Miller (a great meet-cute story that Bruce loved to tell!) and the two were married for nearly 53 years.
Bruce built a fascinating career in civil engineering with Kiewit Construction, where he took great pride in contributing to major projects across the country, including dams, bridges, highways, and power plants. In the early years of his career Bruce also proudly served in the Army Reserves. Above all, Bruce was a devoted and deeply involved father to his three daughters, supporting them through moves, marriages, college, and career changes with unwavering encouragement. He also had a great love of travel, visiting 49 of the 50 states in his lifetime (all but Hawaii!) — 48 of them alongside his favorite travel partner, Kay. Bruce’s love for automobile racing was a driving force in the family’s travel plans – he visited many racetracks across America and continued to be a racing enthusiast all his life. Bruce is survived by his wife, his three daughters Marissa Miller (Patrick Shira), Bree Miller (Todd Swepston), and Amanda Medley (Ben Medley), his granddaughter Addison Shira, and grandsons Luke and Jackson Medley. He is also survived by his brother, Gary Miller (Gloria) of Massillon, nieces Laura Klein and Michelle Cohen, nephews Jason Reed, Anthony Reed, and Timothy Reed, and many beloved cousins around the country in the Oscar Miller family. He was preceded in death by his parents, his father and mother-in-law, Carl and Florence Colerick, and sister- and brother-in-law, Carla and Jim Reed.
A memorial celebration will be held later this summer.
