Buford D. Townsend, 83, of McConnelsville, died, on April 25, 2016 on his birthday surrounded by his family at the Harding Pointe Nursing Center in Marion, Ohio. He was born on April 25, 1933 in Stanton, Kentucky to the late Elmo P. and Pearl M. Steward Townsend. He retired from Klousterman's Bakery in Columbus. He spent his life raising his 11 children and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He is survived by 6 sons, William H. (Pam) Townsend of London, Danny L Townsend of McConnelsville, Glenn (Brenda) Townsend of Plain City, Roger D. (Deena) of Sedalia, Donald (Cheryl) Townsend of McConnelsville and Josh Townsend of Malta, 5 daughters, Joanne Stuthard of Stockport, Wilma J. (John) Strickler of Springfield, Kathy K. Burcham of LaFollette, TN, Vickey S. Ness of Zanesville and Chris (Brian) Miller of McConnelsville, 1 sister, Fada Townsend of McConnelsville, 27 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Loretta Johnson Townsend and a sister Mila Townsend. Services will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at the Matheney Funeral Home in McConnelsville with burial following at the Meigs Cemetery. Friends may call on the family from 11-2 P.M. on the day of the funeral.
