Burl M. Sparkman Jr., age 88, of Chesterhill, Ohio passed away ay 12:45 a.m. on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at Winchester Place in Canal Winchester, Ohio. He was born on June 14, 1926 in Ethel, WV, a son of the late Burrell Howard and Lou Ellen Stidham Sparkman. He was a self employed Body Man, his shop being in Chesterhill. Burl was a Navy Veteran of WW11, and a member of the Sportsman Club in Newark, Ohio. Surviving are: 3 sons: Burl Sparkman 111 of Chesterhill, David Sparkman of Amanda, and Andy Sparkman of Chesterhill; 5 daughters: Judy and Mary Sparkman of Beckley, WV, Lou Garrett of Malta, Ohio, Martha Robey of Zanesville, Ohio, and Patty Bond of Carroll, Ohio; 17 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; 1 Brother-in-Law: Larry Paul Doles of Columbus, Ohio; and 2 Sisters-in-Law: Juanita Sparkman of Galliger, WV, and Juanita Carter of Westerville, Ohio. Other than his parents Burl was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean Rush Sparkman and 3 brothers: Belmer, Jack, and Carl. Services will be held on Friday, June 20, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Stone-Matheney Funeral Home in Chesterhill with David Jarvis officiating. Burial will be in the Chesterhill Cemetery.
