Carol Jean Bailey, 81, of Crooksville, passed away on Thurs, March 2, 2023 at the Fairfield Medical Center in Lancaster.  She was born on Aug. 1, 1941 in Hilliard, Ohio to the late Arbie and Lottie Holbrook Hicks.  She was a homemaker who loved raising her children and grandchildren and was a member of the Lockbourne Freewill Baptist Church.  She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Clifford Bailey of the home, 2 sons, Randall Boggs of Stockport and Ronald Boggs of Columbus, 2 step-sons, Steve Bailey and John Bailey both of Columbus, a daughter, Sandy Baldwin of McConnelsville, a brother, Ed Hicks of Plain City, 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, Minnie Scarberry and Ruby Phillips, 3 brothers, Bill, Ray and Gene Hicks, a granddaughter, Carrie Baldwin and a step-grandson, Ryan Horner.  A funeral service will be held on Mon, March 6, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at the Matheney Funeral Home in McConnelsville with burial following in the Tabor Ridge Cemetery.  Friends may call on the family from 12-2 P.M. on the day of the services.  To send a note of condolence to the family go to www.matheneyfh.com.
