Carol L. Hammond, 65, of McConnelsville passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at her home with her family at her side.She was born July 7, 1951 in Dover, Ohio. Carol was a retired school teacher for Morgan Local Schools where she taught for over 40 years. She was a member of the McKendree United Methodist Church where she was a lay leader and Sunday School teacher. She was a member of the Neelysville Grange and belonged to the M. & M. Fireman's Wives Card Club. Carol was also active in the Morgan County Community of the Arts Program. She is survived by her mother June Gill Hickman of Dover, her husband of 38 years, Maurice Hammond; 2 daughters, Candice (Nathan) Casto of Stockport and Christina (Bart) Clemens of McConnelsville; 4 grandchildren, Tristan Casto, Ashton Casto, Owen Casto, Gracie Clemens and one more on the way;  a sister, Dixie Chumney of Dover; 2 brothers, Dillon (Beth) Hickman of Uniontown and Bo (Linda) Hickman of Mineral City. She was preceded in death by her father, Sam Hickman. Calling hours will be Sunday, August 14, 2016 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the McKendree United Methodist Church where funeral services will be held Monday, August 15, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Lee Ann Dunlap and Chaplin Tim Patton officiating. She will be laid to rest in McConnelsville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Strecker Cancer Center of Marietta or to the Genesis Hospice of Zanesville.
