OBITUARY (attached photo) Charles R Mills 96, former resident of Stockport, Ohio, died at 5 pm on Tuesday, May 08,2018 at Highland Oaks in McConnelsville, OH. Charles was born September 20, 1921, in Morgan County, Homer Township, the third son of Elbert D and Rebecca Duncan Mills. Charles graduated from Pennsville High School in 1940. He attended Southeastern Bible College in Lakeland, Florida and was an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God. He was pastor of churches in Marietta and Canton, Ohio. He also ministered to Stockport and Pennsville area Methodist churches and served as interim minister of churches in Ohio and Pennsylvania. Charles was a veteran of World War II, serving in Africa and Italy. He was a former engineer and superintendent with Krill Company-Professional Engineers of Cleveland, OH. Preceding him in death was his devoted wife of 66 years, Irene Hartley Mills; his father, Elbert D Mills; his mother, Rebecca Duncan Mills; and his two brothers, Lee Mills and Frank Mills. Charles is survived by two nephews Richard Lee Mills (Ruth) of Oak Harbor and Robert Mills of Elyria; two nieces Kathleen Monroe of Elk Grove, IL and Marilyn Baker (William) of Mesa, AZ. Although Charles had no children, he had a special bond with his wife's twin sister Jean Hickerson's children Naomi Hickerson Wright, Carol Hickerson Pierce, and Dan Hickerson. He is also survived by many other loving nieces and nephews. Viewing will be 1 hour prior to the funeral service, which will be held on Friday, May 11, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at the Matheney Funeral Home in McConnelsville.
