MALTA — Chester L. Sanders, 89, of Malta, passed away at 8 a.m. on Monday, April 21, 2014, at his home. Born Sept. 6, 1924, in Athens County, he was the son of the late Fred Joel Sanders and Mabel W. McPeak Sanders. He was a tool maker and a foreman for Gould and Federal Mogul in McConnelsville. He was a World War II veteran and a member of the Pennsville Church Of Christ in Pennsville. He is survived by two daughters, Ruth Smith of Malta and Vicki (Mark) White of Malta; a son, John (Linda) Sanders of Malta; nine grandchildren, 26 great- grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Dow Sanders and Richard Sanders, both of Trimble. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rita McCall Sanders, on June 11, 2012; a grandson, Anthony Fredrick; and three brothers, Ralph, Jack and Bill Sanders. Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 24, at Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville. Services will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 1 p.m., with evangelist Sam Bartrug officiating.
