Clifford Darrel Vorhies, 78, of McConnelsville died at 3 p.m. on Monday, March 11, 2013 at the Riverside Landing Nursing and Rehabilitation Center near McConnelsvillie.He was born July 15,1934, at the home of his grandparents in Bloom Township, Morgan County, Ohio. Darrel was the son of Elza and Laura Dailey Vorhies.He retired from Gould Electronics in 1989. Darrel previously worked at McGraw Edison and served as a township trustee for 24 years. He was proud of his service to his country in the United States Army.Darrel was an accomplished woodworker and musician, performing at nursing homes throughout the area for many years. He was a life long member of the Pisgah United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Rita Duskey Vorhies; a son, Jeff (Angie) Vorhies; a daughter, Julie (Corey) Carnahan; and three grandchildren, Tessa Carnahan, Mideya Kenney, and Cole Rittenhouse.He was preceded in death by his parents.Calling hours will be Wednesday, March 13, from 5-8 p.m. at the Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville.A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 14, at the Pisgah United Methodist Church, with Pastor Bracken Foster officiating. Darrel will be laid to rest in Pisgah Cemetery.Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post 24 Color Guard.
