Dale Eugene "Gene" Scott, 70 of Stockport passed away at 11:20 p.m.. Feb. 1, 2104 at the Marietta Care & Rehab in Marietta. He was born July 11, 1943 in Los Angeles, California the son of the late Dale E. Scott and Freda Lyne Scott. He worked at Central Ohio Coal Co. for 26 Years, former member of the Pennsville Volunteer Fire Dept., attended Pennsville United Methodist Church and was a Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.He is survived by his wife Jackie Leach Scott whom he married Aug. 28, 1968, daughters; Andrea Scott of Germany, Kristina (Kevin) Mulherin of Adams, Tenn., son D.J. (Mary) Scott of Austin, Texas, nine grandchildren; Jessica, Brandi, Karrissa, Jacob, Jimmy, Andy, Kirstie, Brittany, and Chance and three great grandchildren; Kasi, Payge, and Aspen, two sisters; Linda (Jim) Hivnor of Sandusky, Ohio and Cindy (John) Augustine of Charlotte, North Carolina. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014 at Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, at the funeral home with Pastor Sanford Short officiating. Burial will follow with military rites by Post 24 Color Guard in Pennsville Cemetery.
