David C. Riley, 91, of McConnelsville, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at Highland Oaks Health Center. He was born October 23, 1934, the son of Harold and Marjorie Isabelle Walpole Riley. He was a longtime member of the McConnelsville Methodist Church and 70 year member of the Corinthian Masonic Lodge #111 F&AM in McConnelsville. Employed by Ohio Power/Central Ohio Coal Company for 42 years, was an avid car enthusiast and enjoyed walking/running and other outdoor activities. Dave is survived by his wife of 72 years, Carolyn (Abel) Riley, son, Tim (Janice) Riley of McConnelsville, daughter, Tamara Searle of Pagosa Springs, Colorado. Five grandchildren; Clinton (Ciara) Riley, Abby (Landon) Cole, Ryan (Jessica) Searle, Riley (Brooke) Searle and Ryder (Kezzie) Searle. Twelve great grandchildren; Jozi (Aiden) Kammler, Raegen and Bryar Riley, Brenna and Paige Cole, Everett, Myler, Beauden, Maddox, Soren, Avery and Ky Searle. Sister-in-law Martha Pickenpaugh of New Lexington and brother-in-law James (Margie) Abel of Pelham, Massachusetts. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, brother, James R. Riley, sister-in-law Marie Riley and brother-in-law Dan Abel. Calling hours will be held at Matheney Funeral Home in McConnelsville, Wednesday, October 7, 2026 from 11:00 to 12:00 with service following. Burial at the Pennsville Cemetery, with Dan Hickerson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the McConnelsville Methodist Church, 98 N 10th Street, McConnelsville.
