Obituary

Dean O. Maxwell, 93, of McConnelsville, formerly of Malta, passed away at 11:55 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2015, at Highland Oaks Care Center in McConnelsville.

He was born April 16, 1921, in Triadelphia, a son of the late Delmar Maxwell and Etta Norris Maxwell.

He was retired from Gould Electronics in McConnelsville, a veteran of World War II, a member of the American Legion Post No. 24 of McConnelsville, and former member of the FOE in McConnelsville.

Surviving are daughters, Rebecca (Lee) Dilley of Nashport, Susie (Dan) Gibbs of Crooksville; sons, Mark (Mary) Maxwell of McConnelsville, Fred (Marcella) Maxwell of Crooksville, Tony (Diana) Maxwell of Malta, Claude (Heidi) Maxwell of Malta, and Tim (Terri) Maxwell of Malta; 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildern and step-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Twyla Townsend of Zanesville.

* In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Margaret Biedenbach Maxwell, whom he married July 5, 1941, and who died June 19, 2001; one daughter, Delilah (Alan) Johnson; one son, Robert "Bob" (Sandy) Maxwell; sister, Mabel Nixon; and brother, Gerald Maxwell.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, at Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, with Harmon Thomas officiating.

He will be laid to rest in Deerfield Cemetery next to his wife with military rites by the American Legion Color Guard.
