Dewey Gene Parmiter passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2011, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. Dewey was born June 17, 1928. He was preceded in death by his parents Forest Dewey Parmiter and Rachel Margaret (Greer) Parmiter. He is survived by his sister, Dorothy Margaret (Parmiter) Shriver, a nephew and niece, grand nephews and nieces, and great-grand nieces and nephew. Dewey was especially close to his eldest nephew, Rick, and his sons Adam and Evan. Dewey lived his entire life on the family farm with his sister Dorothy, where he cared for his livestock. He attended the Mary Hammond Adult Activity Center, where he had many friends among the staff and employees. Dewey was an avid collector of John Deere memorabilia and collectibles. A private service will be held at the Matheney Funeral Home in McConnelsville at the family's request. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Twin City Opera House.
