Dorsey R. Adkins, 86, of Beverly, passed away at 10:10 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at Highland Oaks Health Center in McConnelsville.

He was born October 27, 1928, in Summers Co., West Virginia, a son of the late Seldon Adkins and Maude Wiseman.

He retired in 1995 from Adkins Logging where he was the former owner operator. He was a former member of Ohio Forestry Association.

He is survived by his children, Myra (David) Swanson of Malta, Kelly Zumbro (Jason Roberts) of Malta, Stacie (Marty) Kinney of McConnelsville, D. Kevin (Barbara) Adkins of Beverly, Randall Adkins of Beverly, and Alan (Stephanie) Adkins of Malta; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Erie Adkins of Hinton, West Virginia.

* In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys "Sugar" Lilly Adkins, who died in 1995 and he married on June 19, 1948; sister, Dicie Boone; and brothers, Merle, Badie, Donnie, and Dempsey.

Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, at Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville where services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, with Pastor Mike Wells officiating.

He will be laid to rest in Beverly Cemetery beside his wife.
