Edna Deanna Cook Chafin, 80, of McConnelsville, passed away on Weds, Jan. 29, 2025 at her residence.  She was born on Aug. 2, 1944 in Holdan W.Va. to the late Henry and Josphine Hughes Cook.  She was a homemaker that loved raising her children and grandchildren.  She is survived by a son, David Nelson of Chapmanville, W.Va., 4 daughters, Debbie Hasenmeirer of Orient, Lisa Privett of McConnelsville, Tina Cole of Logan, W.Va. and Amanda Chafin of Columbus, a brother, Frank Cook of North Carolina, 2 sisters, Eleanor Cook of Virginia and Linda Sue Cook of North Carolina, 14 grandchildren and several great and great great grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Columbus Chafin Jr., 4 brothers, Jimmy, Henry, Billy and Hershal and 3 sisters, Freda, Kathern and Garnett.  Services will be held on Mon., Feb. 3, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. at the Matheney Funeral Home in McConnelsville with burial following in the Malta Cemetery.  Friends may call on the family 1 hour prior to the services.  To send a note of condolence to the family go to www.matheneyfh.com.
