Eldon Wayne Fox "Foxy," 87, of McConnelsville, passed away at 4:35 p.m. Monday, Dec. 29, 2014, at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital in Zanesville.

He was born October 3, 1927, a son of George and Golda Wallace Fox.

His wife, Mary R. White Fox, has been his wife and life long companion for more than 68 years. They have made their home in Muttonburg for all those years.

He is survived by his widow; four daughters, Shirley Holland, McConnelsville, Sherry (Danny) Harris, Duncan Falls, Susan (Alan) Hall, McConnelsville, Shelly (John) Marshall, Malta; seven grandchildren, Jeff (Dorthy) Holland, Justin (Lucinda) Holland, Hank (Tarrie) Swiney, Heather (Mike) Steinzor, Logan, Lyndsey and Lake Drake; nine great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Carolyn Fox.

* Lake is currently serving our country in boot camp for the Marines, stationed at Parris Island, SC.

Mr. Fox was preceded in death by his brothers, Dean and Marjorie, Robert and Mary Margaret and Galen Fox; sisters, Helen (Delbert) Roberts, Mae (Art) Hambel, and Buelah (Jack) Deem; also three sons-in-law, William Swiney, Ronnie Smith and Jerle Holland.

Wayne was loved by many; he has many special nieces and nephews. They were always welcome at this home and many of them spent a lot of time there. He retired from Sidwell brothers where he was a driller and blaster in their stone quarry. Before that, he worked construction for J.R. Prewett, and worked in several states. He was employed at the Brown-Manly Plow Company and Jones Coal Mine. Over the years, he loved to go to auctions and buy busted furniture which he would take home to his little work shop and turn into beautiful pieces of furniture. He was a member of the Meigs Church Of Christ. He was a lifetime Golden Eagle member of the Eagles Club 2187 of McConnelsville, and a social member of the VFW Post 4713 of Malta.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, at Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday with Tom Gaiser officiating.

He will be laid to rest in Meigs Cemetery.
