Obituary

Elmer Cunningham, age 86, of Stockport, Ohio, died at 2:08 a.m. on Friday, December 30, 2016 at Genesis Medical Center in Zanesville. He was born December 4, 1930, in Stockport, a son of the late Wayland Nashville and Goldie Thorniley Cunningham. Elmer retired after 30 years service with the American Electric Power Company in Beverly as an electrician. He was a member of the Stockport Oakland United Methodist Church and Zane and Jane's Square Dancing Club of Zanesville, and American Legion Post # 24 of McConnelsville. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Surviving are 2 daughters: Kim (Mike) Konkler of Stockport and Teresa Flood of McConnelsville; 3 brothers: Leroy ( Annabel) Cunningham and Robert Cunningham, both of McConnelsville, and Chet (Barb) Cunningham of Stockport; 2 sisters: Shirley Calendine of Peru, Indiana, and Georgia Sartor of Jeffersonville, Missouri; 2 grandsons: Brandon (Rachel) Konkler of Caldwell, and Nathan Konkler of Stockport; 1 great grandauther, Amelia Kay Konkler. Other than his parents he was preceded by his wife, Phyllis, 1 brother and 1 sister. Services will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at the Matheney Funeral Home in McConnelsville, with Rev. David Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Waterford Cemetery, where Military Rites will be observed. Waterford, Ohio. Friends may call between 12:00 noon and 2:00 p.m on the day of the service.
