Flossie A. Newsom, 88, of 4272 Echo Hill Road, Malta, passed away at 10:57 a.m. Friday, June 10, 2011 at the Highland Oaks Health Care Center in McConnelsville.

She was born April 6, 1923 in Morgan County, a daughter of the late Melvin North and Ethel Roberts Newsom.

She worked at Meadows Dairy Queen and at Burns Foodtown in Malta, and was a former member of the Main Street Church of Christ in McConnelsville.

She is survived by three daughters, Donna Collins of Malta, Phyllis Newberry of McConnelsville, and Lora Liff of Malta; three sons, W. Tom Newsom of Lincolnton, NC, Eugene Newsom of Portersville, and Milton Newsom of Malta; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great- great-grandchildren; three sisters, Carrie Lyons of McConnelsville, Shirley Finley of Malta, and Diana Boyd of Pennsville; one brother, Russell North of Glouster.

IIn addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Newsom; one son, John Newsom, and one brother, Lee North.

Friends may call 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 12, at the Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville.

A caring cremation will take place and burial will be held at a later date in McConnelsville Cemetery.
