Obituary

Frances E. Hurst Davis, 101, of Rokeby Locks, Ohio expired on Aug. 11, 2024 at the Highland Oaks Nursing Home.  She was the only daughter born to Worley and Ethel Wamack Hurst.  She was born on June 7, 1923 in Perry County.  She was preceded in death by her parents, 1st husband John R. Sands, Husband of 67 years, Richard W. Davis, 4 brothers, Worley Hurst Jr., Lester Hurst, Richard Hurst and Louis Hurst.  She also was preceded in death by a son-in-law, David Hall, daughter-in-law, Cheryl Sands, grandson, Troy Hall and grandson-in-law Gary Starkey.  She is survived by her 2 sons, John Roger Sands and Richard (Rosemary) Sands, daughter, Wrenda (Steve) Anderson, brother, Daniel (Keitha) Hurst, sister-in-law, Sara Hurst and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.  She worked for the Ohio Power Company in the accounting office at the Philo Plant until it closed and then worked and retired from Bethesda Hospital as an admitting clerk.  Frances was a longtime member of the Wolfe Creek Church of Christ and was baptized by the late Russell Bankes in 1950.  At the time of her death, she was the oldest living member of the Hurst family at the age of 101.  Services will be held on Weds, Aug. 14, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at the Matheney Funeral Home in McConnelsville with burial following in the Malta Cemetery.  Friends may call on the family 1 hour prior to the services.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Shrivers Hospice Foundation.
