Frances Louise Deedrick (nee Finley), 95, of Vermilion, Ohio formerly of McConnelsville, died Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Mill Manor Care Center in Vermilion after a brief illness.
She was born April 15, 1918 in McConnelsville to the late Silvey and Blanche (nee Timms) Finley. She had been a Vermilion resident for 6 1/2 years. Frances worked as a secretary for Southwestern City Schools in Grove City, Ohio before retiring in 1983. She and her husband Walter then moved to Melbourne, Florida. While in Florida, Frances was a member of the Palmdale Presbyterian Church, where she served as a deacon. She was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church in McConnelsville where she served as church organist for 20 years. She enjoyed playing the piano for the residents of Mill Manor. She also enjoyed reading, quilting, playing bridge, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her son, Stephen (Rita) Deedrick of Columbus, and daughter, Jean (Greg) Trocchia of Vermilion; daughter-in-law, Rose Deedrick of Mt. Vernon; grandchildren, Scott Deedrick of New Philadelphia, Christine (Jody) Engstrom of New Philadelphia, Frank Trocchia of Copley, and Brian Trocchia of Vermilion; and great grandchildren, Ben Deedrick, Max Deedrick, Brenna Deedrick, Grace Engstrom, and Nico Trocchia. She is also survived by several treasured nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Walter Deedrick, and by her brother, Donald Finley, and sister, Hazel Pardue. She was also preceded in in death by her son, Robert Deedrick.
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 27, 2014 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville where funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Barbara Morrison officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in McConnelsville Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.miller-huck.com
