Gary D. Smith, 74, of Waterford, formally of McConnelsville, passed away on Fri, Sept. 30, 2022 at the Marietta Memorial Hospital.  He was born on Jan. 14, 1948 in McConnelsville to the late James and Ella Marge Bebout Smith.  He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam.  He is survived by a brother, Jim Smith of Neelysville and 2 sisters, Chickie Leach of Nashville and Connie Abbott of Waterford.  He is preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters, Cherie Cobb and Penny Smith.  A caring cremation is taking place at his request and a service will be held at a later date.  Matheney Funeral Home in McConnelsville is handling the arrangements.  To send a note of condolence to the family go to www.matheneyfh.com.
