George Lopez, 61, of Chesterhill, died on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 11:30 A.M. at his residence. He was born on August 13, 1949 in San Diego California to the late George and Maria Garcia Lopez. He was a Civil Engineer for the U.S. Department of Defense for over 30 years and was a U. S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Tabor Ridge Church of Christ near Stockport. He is survived by his wife of 33 years Denise I. Vollmer Lopez of the home, three sons, Merlyn Lopez of Columbus and Gabriel and Rueben Lopez both of the home, three daughters, Danielle Marie Lopez and Ayla Ceres Lopez both of Columbus and Fayrren Lea Lopez who is temporally staying in the home, three brothers, Jose (Julie) Lopez, Mario (Diane) Lopez, and Jaime (Lorena) Lopez all of San Diego, three sisters, Lourdes (Terry) Carpenter of La Paz, Mexico, Nora (Gene) Seidl of Romona, California, and Monica (Mark) Jacobs of San Diego, and two grandchildren, Anthony Vitko, and Jasmyn Renee Jackson. He is preceded in death by his parents. A Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Tabor Ridge Church of Christ with Evang. Sam Bungard officiating. Veteran services will be provided by the Morgan County Veteran Association. Friends may call on the family one hour prior to the services.
