Obituary

George William (Bud) Massey, 82, of Malta, passed away at Genesis in Zanesville on December 8, 2021.  George was born in Chesterhill on September 19, 1939, to the late Deighton and Dorothy Chapman Massey.  George married Sandy Armstrong on June 21, 1964, and shared the next 57 years together.  They had three children:  Carma (David) Johnson of McConnelsville; Tonya (Gary) Mock of Pennsville; and Brian (Theresa) Massey of McConnelsville.  George was the proud grandfather of Tori (Dustin) Parsons, Justin (Alivia) Mock, Dari Harlow (Brady Bragg), Dominique (Blake) Schultz, and Jarred Mock. George was the step-grandfather of Danielle (Keith) Stillman, Devan (Courtney) Vaughn and Peyton Vaughn.  He was further blessed to have great-grandchildren:  Ryder Parsons, Massey Parsons, Addy Parsons, and Jaxton Vaughn.  He was eagerly awaiting the birth of his great-granddaughter, Embree Mock, in February, 2022.  George proudly served his country as a member of the Corp of Engineers in the US Army.  He retired from the Operating Engineers Local 18, after a 50+ year career.  George had many hobbies, including playing music, boating, welding, and collecting.  He was a talented fabricator and could come up with a solution to about any problem.  George was fortunate to have a large family.  He is survived by his brothers, James Dillie of Amesville, and John (Pat) Massey of Reynoldsburg, and his sister, Louise (Ashia) Jago of Amesville.  Besides his parents, George was preceded in death by his in-laws, Elza and Nellie Armstrong and his sisters:  Jean Glines, Ruth Robinson, Leona Brown, Elinor Robinson, and Judith Starlin.   Services will be held on Mon, Dec. 13, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at the Stone-Matheney Funeral Home in Chesterhill with burial following in the Chesterhill Cemetery.  Friends may call on the family from 11-1:00 P.M. on the day of the services.   THE FAMILY REQUEST EVERYONE IS TO WHERE A MASK WHILE IN THE FUNERAL HOME.  To send a note of condolence to the family go to www.matheneyfh.com.
