Herby H. Hanning, 86, of Chesterhill, died on Sunday, July 28, 2013 at 12:37 P.M. at the Highland Oaks Nursing Home in McConnelsville. He was born on August 9, 1926 in Sharpsburg, Ohio to the late Stacy and Flora McClelland Hanning. He retired from the Columbia Gas Company after 35 years of service. He served his country in the US Army during WWII and was a Methodist by faith. He was a member of the Bartlett Masonic Lodge 293 F&AM and loved gardening, hunting and fishing. He also hand made muzzleloaders and clocks. He is survived by 1 son Gene (Kathy) Hanning of Zanesville, 2 grandchildren, Stacy (Jessica) Hanning of Zanesville and Jennifer Hanning (Brad McCune) of Zanesville and 3 great grandchildren, Nichole, Aubrey and Beranda. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Leona F. Zarley Hanning, 5 brothers, John, Russell, Elmer, Walter and Howard Hanning, 3 sisters, Mae Henry, Ida Coulson and Silvia Wogan. Services will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at 2:30 P.M. at the Stone-Matheney Funeral Home in Chesterhill with Pastor Charles Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt Hermon Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. with Masonic services following at 8:00 P.M.
