March 5 Services have been cancelled due to weather. Howard L. Strode, 90 of Chesterhill, died on Weds. Feb. 18, 2015 at 9:30 P.M. at the O'Bleness Hospital in Athens. He was born on Aug. 27, 1924 in Chesterhill, Ohio to the late Franklin Clair and Bessie Howard Strode. He was a farmer and sheered sheep. He sheered at least one sheep a year for over 81 years. He was a member of the McDougal Church in Millfield, Ohio sheep sheers association, Grange, Morgan County Farm Bureau, Morgan County School Board and a 33 year member of the Morgan County Fair Board. He is survived by two sons, Stanley (Cathy) Strode of Chesterhill and Randy (Patty) Strode of Malta, one daughter, Kathy Strode of Athens, two brothers, Don Strode of Newport and Jim Strode of Chesterhill, 1 sister, Mary Emma Newsom of Stockport, 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Delores Hallowell Strode, two daughters, Janet and Linda, a sister-in-law, Nancy Strode and a grandson Mathew Strode. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at the McDougal Church in Millfield with Pastor Stanley Strode officiating. Friends may call on the family on Weds.
