Ida Dolores Hallowell Strode, 89, of 5060 St. Rt. 555, Chesterhill, died at 5:10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011, at her home. She was born on August 20, 1922, in Chesterhill, a daughter of Dennis and Iva McElfresh Hallowell. She was a member of McDougal United Methodist Church at Millfield and was a homemaker. She is survived by her husband, Howard L. Strode; two sons, Stanley (Cathy) Strode of Chesterhill and Randy (Patty) Strode of Malta; one daughter, Kathy (Bob) Berardi of Athens; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Glenn (Barbara) Hallowell of Norwich, Charles (Peggy) Hallowell of Curtis, OH, Dale (Julia) Hallowell of Linnwood, MI, and Keith (Paula) Hallowell of Norwich; two sisters, Norma Rumberger of Navarre and Elma Lou (Dave) Stirgwolt of Chesterhill. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Janet and Linda, and one sister, Mae Benjamin. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at McDougal United Methodist Church, with Pastors Stanley Strode and Charlie Simmons officiating.
