Wallace

IOLA WALLACE
Iola went to her new home in heaven on December 19. She was a true follower of Jesus who faithfully served God and others to the very end. Iola was born on October 6, 1932, and lived in the Stockport community her entire life. She was fiercely devoted to her cherished family, including 5 children and spouses, 12 grandchildren and spouses, and 33 great grandchildren, and has left a beautiful and lasting legacy of faith, service, and grace. Children: Jeff (Nora) Wallace of Athens, Sharla (Jim) Clark of Wooster, Jill (Marc) Cunningham of Vincent, Jan Dillard of McConnelsville, and Tim (Deb) Wallace of Lynchburg. Grandchildren: Jeff (Amy) Wallace of Delaware, Courtney (Chris) Thompson of Logan, Ethan Wallace of Athens, Eric (Shannon)Clark of Lakewood, CO, Heath (Allison) Clark of Kidron, Joni (Mike) Jones of Greenville, Zachary (Rachel) Cunningham of Japan, Shara (Rolf) Baumgartel of Fleming, Alyse (Billy) Richardson of Harrison, Thad (Jen) Wallace of Georgetown, Beth (Jake) Green of Wilmington, and Thayer (Alyssa) Wallace of Portsmouth.
Iola is preceded in death by her husband (John Wallace), father (Harlan Mills), mother (Amanda Mae Cain Mills), step-mother (Helen Rowland Mills), brother (Dean Mills), and great granddaughter (Hannah Wallace). Her sister (Jean Bowman) survives.
Among the many ways Iola, along with John, touched her community are the following: owned and operated Wallace Amoco; along with Jerry and Jean Bowman, founded Chesterhill Church of Christ; helped finance and establish Ohio Valley Christian Camp near Pomeroy; trained children, sang and played piano, and traveled with Wallace Family Singers for many years. In addition, Iola played piano and led choirs at several area churches and also taught and led various women's classes and Bible studies. As a career, she was an accountant with Diagnostic Hybrids Inc. in Athens for 15 years. All 66 family members will always remember that they could look forward without fail to receiving a card and money on their birthdays. Above all, she loved God's word and His Son Jesus. She not only served well, she loved well. There is no doubt she was greeted in heaven with the words we should all aspire to hear: "Well done, good and faithful servant."
All are invited to call or attend her memorial service at Tabor Ridge Church of Christ, 6727 Tabor Ridge Rd., Stockport, on Thursday, December 22, 2022. Calling hours are 10:00 – 12:00, with the service beginning at noon.
