Obituary

Jack Lynn Clifton, 80 passed away peacefully on Saturday November 8, 2025 with the gracious hearts of the Shrivers Hospice Team, his granddaughter and grandson in law by his side. Jack was born January 31, 1945 to the late Robert Casey Clifton and Sylvia Kildow Clifton at Good Samaritan Hospital in Zanesville, Ohio.  He was born the youngest of the four brothers. They lived many years together of fun, love, and family. He was a high school graduate of 1965 in Tampa, Florida. Immediately following graduation he was drafted into the Vietnam War, where he served 1 year in the Highlands of Saigon from 1966 to 1967. After his service to his country he came back to Florida to be with the love of his life Bonnie and begin their future together. Their future began quickly after his honorable discharge from the war in 1967, they were married the following June of 1968. Less than 1 year later they welcomed their son William into the world May of 1969  After the war and birth of his son, Jack worked as Assistant Fire Chief in the Tampa area and also worked on a dry dock going beneath boats, fixing pipes and plumbing, a job he always regretted leaving. In 1978 Jack moved his family back to the Buckeye state where they settled to live their lives in Eagleport. Jack worked as a truck driver covering many miles of the beautiful country he served. He worked at Gould Electronics where he did eventually retire from. Jack helped his friends and fellow veterans at the Malta VFW as a quartermaster. Jack and Bonnie eventually moved down to Kosky Drive in Stockport where they enjoyed watching the natural flow of the river, watching their beloved dog Charlie playing in the yard, laughter of their great grandchildren, football every Saturday and Nascar every Sunday.  He leaves behind many people who loved him. His granddaughter Hannah (Jimmy) Vickers of Stockport. His grandson Channon (Samantha) Clifton of Charleston, South Carolina. His son Chad (Carrie) Clifton of Stockport. Great-grandchildren, Jesse, Gracie, Brynleigh, Jack, and Channon Jr. He also leaves behind a plethora of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his sweet, life-long love Bonnie Clifton. His parents Robert and Sylvia Clifton; and his brothers, Bob, Dick, and Jim Clifton.  Funeral Services will be held on Weds, Nov. 12, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. at the Matheney Funeral Home in McConnelsville with burial following in the Stockport Cemetery.  Friends may call on the family 1 hour prior to the services.
