Jack T. Workman, 91, formerly of Marietta, passed away on December 30, 2015, at the Scenic Pointe Nursing Home in Millersburg, Ohio.

He was born on June 29, 1924, in Banco, W.Va. and was preceded in death by his parents, John and Minnie (Justice) Workman; eight siblings, Letro, Buster, Opal, Denver, Marlene, Norman, Lois and Don; his first wife, Genevieve (McCallister); second wife, Betty Jean (Wolford); and special friend, Alda (Buczek).

He is survived by his son, Mike (Pam) Workman; nephews, Jerry (Debbie), Larry (Becky) Workman and Fred (Debbie) Gilliam; niece, Sharon Gilliam; dear friend, Kay Treves; and favorite sister-in-law, Shirley "Bean" Kennard.

Jack served aboard the destroyer escort U.S.S. Scott in the Atlantic theater during WWII, where he helped clear enemy submarines for Allied troops. He was a patriotic man and proudly wore his uniform in many parades in Marietta, the same size he wore when he served his country. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed helping others learn how to play with courtesy and respect. He loved people and made friend easily. He was a popular salesman for Coca-Cola, Sunbeam Bread, Kraft Foods and Dubois Chemical Company. He would often bring his customers home for holiday meals, especially those who had no families. In the last two years of his life at Scenic Pointe he had a new family and died peacefully with a loving staff and son around him. He will return to the Atlantic in February.
