James W. Greer, 81, of Malta passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville. He was born May 18, 1942 in Morgan County  a son of the late, Lewis O. Greer and Katherine Barkhurst Greer. Jim retired as owner of Greer Insurance in Malta which he operated for 44 years. He served 6 years in the National Guard  and was a member of the McConnelsville Methodist Church. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and was a member of the Corinthian Lodge #111 of McConnelsville. Jim was also a member of  the American Legion Post #24 of McConnelsville, the M. & M. Rotary Club, and the Neelysville Grange. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Karen Slater Greer;  a daughter, Kim (Steve) Hann of Malta;  a son, Bill (Liana) Greer of Mt. Juliet, TN;  a brother, Charlie (Sonja) Greer of Pennsville; 5 grandchildren, Kasey (Andrew) Canlas, Kelsey Robinson, Korie Robinson, Hannah Greer, Jacob Greer;  and a great grandchild, Quinn Canlas. Friends and family may call Friday, March 15, 2024 from 5-8 p.m. at Miller-Huck Funeral Home with a masonic service to be  held at 5 p.m. A funeral service will be  Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Galen Finley officiating.
