James D. McCarty, 85, of Groveport, formerly of Malta, passed away Saturday, June 9, 2018 at his home in Groveport. He was born August 28, 1932 in Riverview, Virginia to the late James A. McCarty and Evelyn Johnson McCarty. James had worked as a T V repairman and sold used auto parts. He was an avid Atlanta Braves and St. Louis Cardinals fan and was an Army veteran of the Korean War. James is survived by three daughters, Rebecca Schnieder of Groveport, Peggy Mason of Salem, and Lisa Burkholder of Columbus; a son, Ervin McCarty of Obetz; a sister, Mary Catherine McCarty of Bristol, Va. and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Ann McCarty and his second wife, Judy McCarty; a daughter, Linda McCarty;  a son, James McCarty; seven brothers; and four sisters. Calling hours will be Saturday, June 16, 2018 from 11:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m. at the Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville where funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Galen Finley officiating. James will be laid to rest beside his wife, Judy in Zion Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post #24 Honor Guard.
