James Reed Paxton, Sr., 78, of Stockport passed away Saturday, November 18, 2107 at his home. He was born November 9, 1939 in Noble County to the late Elwood Paxton and Delores Simcox Paxton. James was retired from Globe Metallurgical and was a Methodist by faith. He loved hunting and fishing and spent his summers  on Lake Erie. James is survived by his wife of 13 years, Jeanette Gaines Paxton; five daughters, Kimberly (Jeff) Griffith of Kimbolton, Jennifer Phillips of Stockport, Betsy (Norman) Miller of Waterford, Paula (Andy) Smith of Little Hocking, and Kara (Alfred) Zeigler of Coolville; a son, James (Felicca) Paxton, Jr. of Stockport. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Marjorie Young Paxton and three sisters Ruth Garvin, Rita Taylor and an infant sister. Calling hours will be Tuesday, November 21, 2107 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville. A memorial service will be held at 8:00 p.m. with Pastor Phil Griffith officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Malta & McConnelsville Fire Dept. & E.M.S. or to the Kenny Hanson Memorial Fund.
