James David Weaver, 77, of Cumberland, passed away on Sat, Jan. 11, 2025 at the Genesis Hospital in Zanesville.  He was born on Feb. 1, 1947 in Madison, W.Va. to the late James C. and Jane Miller Weaver.  He graduated from M&M Highschool in 1964 and then the Hobart Welding School.  He worked for over 55 years as a Steel Erector working all over Ohio and West Virginia and retired from Armstrong Steel Company.  He attended the Blue Rock Baptist Church and was an avid outdoors man.  He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Sondra Ponchak Weaver of the home, 2 sons, Aaron (Heather) Weaver of McConnelsville and Justin (Laura) Weaver of Grandville, a step-son, Tracy (Amanda) Anderson of New Concord, a daughter, Jennefer Weaver of McConnelsville, a step-daughter, Debroah (Mike) Armstrong of Gratiot, a brother, Kenton (Ann) Weaver of McConnelsville, a sister, Brenda (John) Balderson of Malta, 4 grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren and 8 step-great grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Barbara Broyles and a brother Mark Weaver.  A service will be held on Fri. Jan. 17, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at the Matheney Funeral Home in McConnelsville with burial following in the Malta Cemetery.  Friends may call on the family on Thurs.
