Jessie James Withem, 80, of Millfield, died on Sun. July 20, 2014 at the Hickory Creek Nursing Home in The Plains at 8:35 a.m.. He was born on March 22, 1934 in Glouster, Ohio to the late William J. and Ceola Dolan Withem. He owned and worked at Stewart Sand and Gravel as well as strip mining, logging and was a self employed excavator. He was a member of the Athens Elks, Sons of AMVETS, V.F.W. Sons and Moose Lodge. He is survived by 2 sons, Jimmie Dale (Glenna) Withem of Athens and Ralph (Rita) Withem of Athens, 1 daughter, Joy Ann Withem of Athens, 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Patty McKinley Withem and 1 brother, Bob Withem. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at the Stone-Matheney Funeral Home in Chesterhill. Burial will be in the Amesville Cemetery.
