Janet M. Starling, 80, of McConnelsville, passed away at 8:20 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at the Genesis Morrison House, in Zanesville. She was born June 18, 1935, in Morgan County, a daughter of the late Robert Barkhurst and Frances Anderson Barkhurst. She was a RN and worked at Rocky Glenn and Mark Rest Center, in McConnelsville. She was a member of the Pennsville Church of Christ, graduate of Pennsville High School, Bethesda School of Nursing, and served five terms on the Morgan Local School Board of Education. She was a charter member of Penn Modern Mothers OCCL and served as SE District President, and was chairman of several committees of the State Board of OCCL. She also was SE Ohio Region President of the Ohio School Board Association. She is survived by a son, Jeff (Carleene) Starling, of  Scottsdale, AZ; sister, Sue (Linda) Barkhurst, of Batavia; brother, Gene ( Linda) Barkhurst, of Reynoldsburg; and sister-in-law, Judy Barkhurst. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, H. Rodney Starling, who died Sept. 26, 2006; son, Mark Starling; and brother, Gary Barkhurst. Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 11, at Miller-Huck Funeral Home, in McConnelsville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 12, at the Pennsville Church of Christ, with Ray Wright officiating. She will be laid to rest in Pennsville Cemetery.
