Jeannine Newsom Greuey was born on August 27,1935 to Stanley V. and Geraldine Newton Newsom. She was born in Penn Township, Ohio. She peacefully passed away on August 16, 2026. Jeannine attended Malta Elementary and was in M&M High School’s class of 1953. She married Maynard Greuey, the father of her children, on June 7.1953. Throughout the years she worked at Ben Franklin, The Five and Dime Store, Farm Bureau, Malta Savings and Loan, Malta Manufacturing Company, PALS, United Telephone Company, and Washington/Morgan Community Action Agency. It was through her places of employment that she developed many lifelong friends. Jeannine was a member of the Malta Methodist Church and was a member of the Mary Catherine Carrel Circle of the Church. She also was a member of the Amanda Barker Devin chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Jeannine was very patriotic and very proud of her heritage. Her 5th great grandfather, Colonel William Stacey helped to settle the northwest territory and was the engineer who designed Fort Campus Martius in Marietta, Ohio. Colonel Stacey had 2 sons (John & Phillip) who were victims of the Big Bottom massacre; John was scalped and Phillip was taken as a prisoner. She was a huge Ohio State fan. On game days you could find her dressed in Ohio State gear from head to toe. Her beloved pets brought her much joy. Jeannine was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Keith and Roger Newsom, grandson Robert S. Bellville, and great grandson, Cohen Bellville. Her legacy lives on through her daughters, Debbie (Paul) Eberle, Becky (Bob) Bellville, and Jan (Joe) Schaad. In addition to her daughters and their husbands she is survived by her grandchildren, Mark (Crista) Eberle, Marci (Jeremy) Oliver, Morgan (Ben) Butler, Megan (Zach) Gilarmis, Nathan, Colby (Brooke), Ryan (Shena) Bellville, and Shaila, Allan (Keri), Matthew (Destiny) Schaad. She is survived by her great grandchildren, Linden and Jensen Eberle, Kamryn Oliver, Craig Butler, Bentley, Ava, Robert C. Bellville, Tristan and Hayden Suprano, Brison, Brantley, Brelynn Schaad, step great grandchildren John (Rachael) Tucker, Kirsten, and Brianna Offenberger. Step great-great grandchildren Briggs & Banx Gerber. Jeannine was a very devoted mother and grandmother. Her children and grandchildren brought her tremendous joy. Visitation will be at Matheney Funeral Home from 5-7 P.M. on Friday. Her life will be celebrated at Malta Methodist Church of Malta, Ohio on Sat. August 22, 2026 at 11:00. A graveside service will follow at Pennsville Cemetery. Her memory will be cherished by her family and friends She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Mary’s House at Silver Heels at PO Box 1005 Beverly, Ohio 45715.
