On December 1, 2015 , surrounded by family , Jerreld Fredrick "Freddy" Woodard, 82 of Malta went to be with his savior. He was born January 8, 1933 in Morgan County the son of the late Jerreld Clancy Jack Woodard and Della Mae Anderson Woodard. He spent his childhood roaming the hills of Muttenburg (Meigs) Ohio, and in 1953 he served his country fighting in the Korean War as a member of Company B of the 145th Infantry, the 37th Division. Shortly after returning home from war, Freddy met and married Sally Jean Kangas, and the two would start a whirlwind romance that would last over 60 years, producing 6 children, 18 grandchildren , 29 great grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time chasing coon dogs through the woods, racing horses, and could always be counted on to tell a good story or joke. He retired from Central Ohio Coal Co. in 1994, and spent his remaining years on the family farm outside Malta. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Yvonne "Runt" (John) Finley, and his brother Eugene Woodard. He is survived by his wife, Sally, sister Vera (Max) Drake, sister in law Freda Woodard, five daughters Jane (Mike) Palmer, Jean(Mike ) Copeland, Jodie (Jerry) Finley, Joyce (Brent) Apperson, all of Malta, Jackie Agey of Mebane, North Carolina a son Fred (Jodi Ashton) of Blue Rock. He is also survived by special friends, neighbor Ronnie (Manu) Jordan and good buddies Shorty Ashton, Tom Harmon, and Donnie Webb. Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015 at the Malta Bible Church in Malta, where services will be held at 11 :00 a.m Friday, Dec 4, 2015 with Pastor Issac Clark officiating . Burial with military rites by American Legion Post 24 will be held in Zion Cemetery in Portesrville. Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville is entrusted with arrangements.
