Jerry A. Bowman, age 78, of Chesterhill, Ohio, died at 3:09 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at OSU Medical Center in Columbus. He was born November 20, 1935 in Chesterhill, a son of the late Clyde R. Bowman and Inez Burfield Bowman Still. He was a 1954 graduate of Windsor High School in Stockport. He was an oilfield worker , and retired from Columbia Gas of Ohio, Natural Resources Department, as a Driller and Well Tender. He was an Army Veteran, serving from 1958-1960, a member of the Stockport Church of Christ and one of the founders of the Church of Christ in Chesterhill. Jerry loved cars, motorcycles, and was a great fan of basketball, especially fond of attending those of Morgan High School. Surviving are his loving wife, Jean Mills Bowman of the home, 2 daughters: Gina (Fred) Bowman Frame of Stockport, Terri Hughes of McConnelsville; 4 grandchildren: Taisha, Tiffany, and Brandon Holland and Matthew Hughes; 4 great grandchildren, 3 brothers: Ron Bowman, Greg Bowman, both of Newcomerstown, Rocky Salsberry of Texas; 1 sister: Janet Douglas of Alto, California; several nieces and nephews. Other than Jerry's parents, he was preceded by 1 brother, Dick Bowman, and 2 sisters: Pat Bowman and Sue Still. Services will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Stone-Matheney Funeral Home in Chesterhill with Evang. Rex McDonald officiating. Burial will be in the Stockport Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and 1 hour prior to the service on Saturday. Military rites will be held at the grave site.
