Obituary

Jerry Lee Klies age 67 left his beloved family and many friends to be with his heavenly Father on January 10, 2011. Jerry was born on September 15, 1943 to the late William (Bill) and Bessie Dailey Klies. He graduated from M&M High School in 1962 and joined the Marine Corp where he served his country four years. On Dec. 1, 1964 he married Linda Williams. Jerry will be remembered by many for his willingness to help. He was a member of the Church of The Gospel Ministry. Jerry volunteered for many years to help with the annual Boy Scouts Archery Shoot and the National Wild Turkey Federation Jakes Day. For over thirty-three years he taught the Hunters Education Program in Morgan County for the Division of Wildlife. Jerry's longest contribution to the community was his forty- three years as a lineman for American Electric Power. Yes, it was his job, but Jerry went above and beyond in his service. His last eleven years of his job he was on call seven days a week twenty-four hours a day. Jerry chose to do this since he took his job to heart and his service to the people as one of his priorities in his life. He was a member of IBEW and served as business manager for twelve years. Jerry is survived by his wife, Linda; one daughter, Tina and son-in-law, Rob; three precious grandchildren, Braidy, Brock and Avery Lucas all of Richmond, OH. One sister, Carol Gutberlet of FL; mother-in-law, Betty Bullock of Mt. Vernon, OH; sister and brother-in-law, Jeff and Linda Bullock also of Mt. Vernon and sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Dan Bellville of McConnelsville. Jerry is also survived by two nieces, four nephews and thirteen great-nieces and nephews. Jerry will be remembered by his close friends; Charlie and Janet Eddleblute, Ed and Donna Davis, and friend and minister Galen Finley. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, William (Bill) and Bessie (Dailey) Klies and his brother-in-law, Leroy Gutberlet. Calling hours will be Thursday, January 13, 2011 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Church of the Gospel Ministry in McConnelsville where a funeral service will be held Friday, January 14, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Galen Finley officiating. The burial will be in McConnelsville Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Morgan County Veterans Group. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Gospel Ministry 210 N.
